Facing the Bull: How Bold Leadership, Honesty, and Heart Shape My Work
In this special episode of Stare Down the Bull, we flipped the script — literally. My longtime friend and colleague, Steve Chambers, took over as host to interview me about what drives me as a leader, why I challenge convention, and how honesty, courage, and heart have shaped my leadership journey.
From growing up as one of six kids to leading global enterprise sales teams, my career has always centered around outcomes, relationships, and a refusal to settle for “business as usual.” Early in my career at Motorola, I was surrounded by fearless, outspoken sales professionals who thrived in a high-pressure environment. That experience taught me to speak up, take risks, and find my own voice in a male-dominated industry — lessons that continue to shape how I lead and communicate today.
What We Covered in This Conversation
- Why courage in communication matters: Saying what others are thinking but afraid to say can transform any meeting or negotiation.
- How authentic relationships drive results: Building trust and connection opens more doors than titles or job descriptions ever could.
- Standing up to corporate bullies: How to protect your team and foster psychological safety at work.
- Leading with both confidence and compassion: Why emotional intelligence is the true foundation of modern leadership.
- The future of women in AI and tech: Why representation and mentorship still have a long way to go.
Leadership That’s Fearless and Human
My leadership philosophy has always been rooted in bold honesty, empathy, and accountability. I believe in calling out the “bull”—the outdated norms, hidden politics, and fear-based decisions that keep organizations from evolving.
The image that inspires me most is the Fearless Girl statue facing down Wall Street’s charging bull. It’s more than a metaphor—it’s a mission:
to face challenges head-on, to ask hard questions, and to bring more truth and transparency into every leadership conversation.
At its core, this episode is about fearless leadership—leading with both conviction and compassion, driving outcomes with integrity, and making room for more women to lead boldly in every boardroom, business, and conversation that matters.
